Many leaders appreciate having someone they can trust to challenge their thinking in a rigorous and supportive manner: someone who is in their corner and yet determined to help them decide the right order of things despite any competing agendas and egos.
At Go For Growth, we help and challenge clients to clarify what they really care about, which strengths they can rely on when times are tough and how to move forward. We believe self-awareness is a critical leadership skill. Our aim is to help each client understand their level of commitment and create the best route to success.
Examples of the issues that individual and group coaching sessions cover:
- How to obtain a key role and maintaining perspective during the process: this type of individual work with a leader typically involves matters of motivation and how to sustain momentum for the short and longer term. The work typically includes discussions about how to leverage strengths, deal with blockages and deepen self-awareness in the context of whatever is on the particular leader’s agenda.
- What is important for this team? This type of work might include a defined team such as an Executive Committee that needs to work together to agree on and execute company strategy. Alternatively, the team might see itself more as a project group with a specific agenda and timetable. Both teams might be high-performing and want to sustain or accelerate the level of achievement. In this work there is often a range of underlying circumstances, disagreements and competing agendas that might need to be addressed in order for the group of individuals to achieve a new level of understanding.
- How to balance the components of work and life outside work: this is where individuals or teams are experiencing tension or anxiety about how to sustain momentum. The conversation and focus of this work often involves understanding how to accommodate a range of pressures on the individual or team; how to work through change and complex transition which might cause people to feel overwhelmed; how to leverage resources in a way that can help move things forward.
- Working at Board level: this work typically includes discussion about your impact upon other people, handling difficult conversations and how to sustain momentum. Personal motivation and longer-term ambitions are often discussed in these coaching sessions.
